Dance Etiquette

When dancing at Hotels, Restaurants & Bars

Dancers: Bars and lounges are businesses and need to make a profit. If we want places to dance, we need to support them financially, be considerate, and not be a problem for their other customers and the staff.

When dancing at a bar or lounge, please order a drink (a couple of drinks if you linger) or a drink and something to eat. Dancers are notorious for not drinking or just drinking water. At least order bottled water and tip generously. A good rule of thumb is to spend at least $20 (drinks & tip). Tip the servers generously (they are more likely to give good service the next time you are there).

A few other things to be aware of:

- Dance on the Dance Floor. Don't dance in the aisles or between the tables.

- Don't move furniture.

- Don't conspicuously stack your "stuff" on chairs or tables (put it discretely under the table).

- Don't bump staff or other partons (and apologize profusely if you do).

- Don't dance every dance if it's crowded (give others a chance to dance on an uncrowded floor).

- Be aware of the desired ambiance of the establishment and help maintain it.
